Col. Charles A. Lindbergh takes the stand in a dramatic moment in the Flemington, New Jersey on Feb. 12, 1957, trial of Bruno Richard Hauptmann, the Bronx carpenter charged with the kidnap-slaying of the Lindbergh baby. Lindbergh testified he heard Hauptmann?s voice giving directions from behind a hedge the night he left $50,000 in ransom money in a Bronx cemetery. A $10 gold note, part of the ransom passed at a filling station, led to Hauptmann?s arrest. Police found $14,600 in ransom money in Hauptmann?s garage. (AP Photo)
