Greek President Constantine Caramanlis is shown on March 9, 1995. Caramanlis died in an Athens hospital on Thursday April 23, 1998, after a heart attack he suffered 11 days ago while being treated in hospital for bronchitis. He was 91. Caramanlis had been in failing health since retiring in 1995, ending a 60-year political career which included two terms as president and a record six premierships.
