Nazi low flying raiders released four high explosive and four incendiary bombs over the little village of Douillet on the Marne. These were directed at a maternity hospital, clearly labeled and many mothers, babies and other civilians were killed by the high explosive bomb which wrecked the building. The bomb wrecked maternity hospital of Douillet on the Marne shown May 17, 1940. The large sign pots bearing the word hospital is still clearly to be seen. White patches at the foot of the building on the right are the bodies of mothers killed as they tried to escape. (AP Photo)
