There were remarkable scenes of discover, when 200,000 athletes from all parts of Europe, marching in procession past German Chancellor Adolf Hitler, broke their ranks and surged round the tribune in uncontrollable excitement. This was the first occasion the fuehrer had been face to face with Sudeten Germans in large numbers.
