A fine net dries on a bush at the edge of a beach in Soc Trang province. Previously this area was covered with mangrove forest which protected the interior from rising water levels, salinity intrusion and wind-swept sand. With the mangroves now gone many farmers have to protect their crops and shrimp farms with these nets to prevent too much sand from being blown on to their crops or in to their shrimp ponds.
