(NYT68) BALTIMORE -- January 14, 2008 -- MD-FORECLOSURES-WOMEN -- Anjanette Booker, right, in her Baltimore hair salon on Dec. 30, 2007. Booker says that money and foreclosures are hot topics in her neighborhood. Single women have been among the fastest-growing groups of homeowners in recent years, and in Baltimore they accounted for 40 percent of home sales in 2006, twice the national average, according to the National Association of Realtors. Nearly half of these mortgages were subprime, according to the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. (Vanessa Vick/The New York Times)
