(NYT4) WASHINGTON -- March 16, 2007 -- WHITE-HOUSE-FIELDING -- Fred F. Fielding, then on the Sept. 11 commission, met with Beverly Ecket whose husband, Sean Rooney, died in the attacks on the World Trade Center, during a commission session in New York in January, 2007. In bringing him back to the West Wing this year, President Bush turned to Fielding, now White House counsel, as the kind of consummate Washington insider he disdained when he first came to town.
