(NYT24) CULVER CITY, Calif. -- June 16, 2006 -- PEACHHEAD-PARENTS-ADV18 -- Parents in the online group Peachhead gathered in a park in Culver City, Calif., and met its founder, Linda Perry, not shown, on Sunday, June 11, 2006. Unlike some of the larger sites for parents, like Urbanbaby.com and iVillage.com, Peachhead does not accept advertising or sponsors. Perry personally screens all members and monitors the discussion. This combination of factors has made her disproportionately powerful in the small community of businesses that serve affluent mothers on the fashionable West Side of Los Angeles.
