*FILE*(NYT73) NEW YORK -- April 15, 2005 -- NY-PORT-SWITCH -- The Queen Mary 2 ocean liner sails past the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge in New York in April 2004. The Queen Mary 2, the Queen Elizabeth 2 and other elegant world-class passenger and cruise ships will abandon glamorous Manhattan and make Brooklyn their home port next year when the city finishes rebuilding a pier in Red Hook where longshoremen once ruled the docks and mean streets.
