(NYT66) NEW YORK -- Feb. 16, 2005 -- Adv. for Sun., Feb. 20 -- BEIJING-DANCE-2 -- The Beijing Modern Dance Company performing "Rear Light," a 70-minute piece that uses music from the soundtrack to the "Wall" film at the Joyce Theater in Manhattan in February. The audience at the Joyce gave every sign of loving the company and the work, even though presumably many were not closely familiar with the album or the stage show or the film. They could appreciate what they saw as a thing in itself: a fairly abstract, generalized depiction of defiance, alienation and a strained sort of love between man and woman, all sharply danced and crisply staged.
