(NYT27) NEW YORK -- Feb. 24, 2005 -- MAAZEL-MUSIC-2 -- The conductor Lorin Maazel, playing a few bars of his own music in his office at Avery Fisher Hall in Manhattan in January. While his works have been periodically performed in Europe and America and occasionally in New York, Maazel is far better known as a conductor than a composer. On Tuesday, March 1, 2005, the New York Philharmonic program will consist entirely of music composed by Maazel himself. (Sara Krulwich/The New York Times)
