(NYT30) NEW YORK -- June 6, 2004 -- POTTER-REDUX -- The audience filters in for "Wizard People, Dear Reader,'' an alternative version of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,'' on Friday, June 4, 2004, in Brooklyn. The original soundtrack, dialogue and all, was turned down and replaced by an alternate version created by a 27-year-old comic book artist from Austin, Texas, named Brad Neely. He calls his soundtrack "Wizard People, Dear Reader,'' and it is one more breach of the media industry's control of its products. With Neely's gravelly narration, the movie's tone shifts into darkly comic, pop-culture-savvy territory. (Dean Cox/The New York Times)
