(NYT50) SAO PAULO, Brazil -- May 26, 2004 -- BRAZIL-ORANGE-BLIGHT -- Henrique Fiorese on his orange grove in Sao Paulo, Brazil in May. Fiorese worries that citrus sudden death will wipe out his orange grove. Hundreds of other Brazilian farmers have incurred loses since a mysterious new crop disease began ripping through the heart of the country's citrus belt in 2001. The disease, being called citrus sudden death, is highly contagious and can kill an orange tree within weeks after the first symptoms appear. (Paulo Fridman/The New York Times)
