(NYT40) NEW YORK -- May 16, 2004 -- NY-WIG-BURING-FLOATER -- Several hundred members of the Williamsburg, Brooklyn Hassidic community came out onto the streets on Sunday afternoon May 16, 2004, to participate in the burning of women's wigs. The wigs - worn by Hassidic women to cover their natural hair - were put to flames because of concerns that the hair used to make them was collected following a Hindu ceremony in India. (Lucian M.
