Reginald Butler, seated, of the First Cavalry Division, a platoon leader for 1st Platoon, Alpha Company, working out in a gym in Sadr City in Baghdad, Thursday, June 3, 2004. Butler was due to leave the army in August. His tour along with those of 40 percent of the men in his platoon have been extended. Active-duty soldiers who had planned to leave the military when their enlistments expired -- or to move to other military jobs -- could be required to stay for the length of their unit's deployment in Iraq or Afghanistan.
