(NYT25) MILLICAN, Ore. -- May 23, 2004 -- ORE-TINY-TOWN -- A view of Millican, Oregon on May 15, 2004. Deep in the high desert of Central Oregon, along a desolate road that runs through a lonely terrain thick with sage brush and Juniper trees, lies one of the smallest towns in America. With its seven residents, all members of the Murray family, Millican is actually booming these days, because for almost a century it was Oregon's one-man town, a dinky outpost with one store and two wooden cabins, where two different men were, for forty years each, mayor, postmaster, hotelier and sole resident.
