(NYT38) CASTLETON, Virg. -- June 9, 2004 -- MAAZEL-FARM-4 -- A piece of a cannonball found in the home of New York Philharmonic director and conductor, Lorin Maazal and wife, Dietlinde Turban-Maazal, in Castleton, Va. The cannonball was fired at the house during the Civil War. The Maazels live in a former Civil War hospital is part of an estate that spans 500 acres in the Shenandoah Valley near the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. (Linda Spillers/The New York Times)
