(NYT36) BEAR MOUNTAIN, N.Y., -- October 7, 2003 -- APPLACHIAN-TRAIL-FLOATER -- "Only 1300 miles to go. We covered about 800 miles, " explained Rob Moore of Michigan in Bear Mt., N.Y, on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, left, who is hiking the Applachian Trail from Maine to Georgia with brothers Keaton Freeman, center, and Adam Freeman, right. The trio began hiking the trail in August at Mt. Katahdin in Maine, and they hope to arrive in Georgia in December. To make time Tuesday, they will hike by the light of the almost full moon to make their campsite in New Jersey. (Suzanne DeChillo/The New York Times)
