(NYT35) DENVER -- October 4, 2003 -- DENVER-MILE-HIGH -- For decades tourists have been coming to the Denver, the Mile High City and posing for pictures at precisely 5,283.03 feet above sea level. Perhaps now they would like to come back and get a shot at 5,280 feet, exactly one mile high. Three markers declare the exact point on the Colorodo State Capitol steps that is at one mile above sea level. During the first week of October, a new marker, seen at bottom, was placed.
