(NYT48) NEW YORK -- Oct. 3, 2003 -- NY-AFRICANS-REBURIAL-8 -- Hands touch the hand carved caskets made in Ghana, Africa, during an all night vigil at the African Burial Ground Memorial Site in Manhattan, Friday evening, Oct. 3, 2003. Over 400 skeleton remains will be reburied Saturday, Oct. 4. They were unearthed in 1991 as construction for a new federal building was to begin at the New York site.
