(NYT19) SEOUL, South Korea -- SKOREA-U.S.-RALLY -- Lee Dae Yung, a 67-year-old retired grocer, waves a Korean flag while his 5-year-old grandson, Lee Tong Hyuk, sits on his shoulders and waves an American flag at a pro-American rally, as South Koreans took to the streets in Seoul, Saturday, March 1, 2003, for two large demonstrations that underlined a deep generational divide in South Korea in attitudes toward North Korea and the United States, as tensions between those countries continued to rise. The rally at noon in front of Seoul's City Hall turned into the largest pro-American, anti-North Korean gathering in recent memory. (Keith Bradsher/The New York Times)
