(NYT27) ROME -- Sept. 12, 2003 -- FASCIST -- Italy's Benito Mussolini salutes as he reviews troops in Rome in 1933. Since Sept. 11, the term fascist appears to be making something of a comeback. Not long after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Christopher Hitchens adopted the term ??Islamic fascism'' to describe Osama bin Laden. More recently Paul Berman, in his book "Liberalism and Terror,'' uses the fascist analogy to defend the United States invasion of Iraq. (The New York Times)
