(NYT24) NEW YORK -- Sept. 7, 2003 -- 9-11-POLL-2 -- Antonio DeJesus, 38, a salesman at Brooks Brothers at 1 Liberty Plaza, which faces the fallen towers. Dejesus was the first one in on the morning of the attack. The day the store reopened on the afternoon of the first anniversary of the attacks last September, he and co-worker Jackeline Davis, stood in the middle of the store; together they said a prayer for the dead. "We prayed for the souls,'' says DeJesus. From then on, he says, he looked forward, never back. DeJesus at work in Brooks Brothers, Sept. 4, 2003. (Suzanne DeChillo/The New York Times)
