(NYT13) STRAWBERRY ISLAND, British Columbia -- Sept. 20, 2003 -- MARITIME-MYSTERY -- From Strawberry Island near Tofino, British Columbia, Rod Palm, owner of the island, says he has watched Tofino transform from a salmon fishing village to a tourist destination, and his hope is that his discovery of an old anchor that he says may have belonged to the ill-fated ship the Tonquin could be a boon for the town's fading maritime legacy.
