(NYT56) CLINTON, N.Y. -- Feb. 12, 2003 -- CIR-ARCHIVES -- Increasingly, life's reside on hard drives or floppy disks crammed into the back of a drawer. In an ideal world, all that data from an old computer would float effortlessly to a new one. But because of the incompatibility of older software or cables with newer computers, many people find themselves holding onto a heap of old hardware, in case they need whatever is inside. Jennifer Strum, left, and Dana Luciano hold their newest computers on Feb. 3, 2003, and are surrounded by several of their old computers at their home in Clinton, N.Y.
