(NYT50) BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Feb. 27, 2003 -- IRAQ-BAGHDAD-2 -- By and large, Baghdad remains doggedly serene. For a while crowds mobbed the main passport office, but few really possess the means to flee. The government distributed six months of basic food rations in advance. Overall though, the drumbeat of war elicits little more than a collective shrug. Iraqi dancers rehearse on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003 for the dance theater production of Gilgamesh, scheduled to debut in Baghdad within 2 weeks time. (Farah Nosh/The New York Times)
