(NYT5) NEW YORK -- March 1, 2003 -- BKN-EWING-5 -- The atmosphere was electric, beyond that of a playoff game. It was more like the tribute Michael Jordan received at last month's NBA All-Star Game or the presentation of the league's 50 greatest players six years ago in Cleveland. But this celebration, this commemoration, this outpouring of appreciation was all about Patrick Ewing. Friday night, Feb. 28, 2003, at halftime of the Knicks' game against the Orlando Magic, in a ceremony that lasted roughly 35 minutes, the Knicks lifted Ewing's jersey number 33 to the Madison Square Garden rafters. Ewing listening to television announcer Marv Albert's introduction Friday night at Madison Square Garden, Friday night, as Ewing's former number light up the floor. (G.
