(NYT12) NEW YORK -- Feb. 7, 2003 -- Adv. for Sun., Feb. 9 -- FASHION-WEEK-MARKETING -- On the eve of Fashion Week, which opened Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, designers made the public privy to their fashion influences via a Web site. There was a time when such snippets, like tickets to the shows, were served up parsimoniously, dispensed like stock tips strictly to insiders. No longer. This year, editors, retailers, designers and other impresarios of the runways are broadcasting their insider briefings on the Web, in stores, and in other public spaces, as part of a stepped-up effort to market Fashion Week directly to consumers.
