(NYT37) WASHINGTON -- Jan. 21, 2003 -- ABORTION-DEMOCRATS -- In a sequence of speeches in Washington Tuesday night, six Democrats all told Naral Pro-Choice America, an pro-abortion rights organization, that a woman's right to terminate her pregnancy was in the greatest peril since the Roe v. Wade opinion because of the recent elections that left Republicans in control of Congress and the White House. From left on Tuesaday night, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts; Howard Dean, the former governor of Vermont; Representative Richard A. Gephardt of Missouri; Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut; the Rev. Al Sharpton; and Senator John Edwards of North Carolina, Democrats running for president. (Stephen Crowley/The New York Times)
