(NYT41) NEW YORK -- Jan. 17, 2003 -- NY-WATER-FLOATER -- When you're looking for leaks, a plumber is a good bet - unless the leaks are in a 45-mile stretch of the Delaware Aqueduct. Officials say New York City, which gets half its drinking water from the aqueduct, loses millions of gallons a day because of leaks and cracks. The New York Department of Environmental Protection will use Uliisys, a 600-pound minisubmarine outfitted with digital cameras and sonar, to look for the defects.
