(NYT45) OSSINING, N.Y. -- Jan. 16, 2003 -- PRISON-VOLUNTEERS-2 -- Of the 5,895 people registered with the New York State Department of Correctional Services, 420 volunteer at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, N.Y., more than at any other prison in the state. They include priests, literacy teachers, anger management counselors and a historian. When inmates are released, volunteer teachers feelsay, education can help them stay out.
