(NYT27) NEW YORK -- Jan. 9, 2003 -- NY-SPANISH-PAINTING -- The Hispanic Society of America, in Manhattan has become tired of having a world-class art collection that almost nobody sees, so it has decided to send the work where the audience is. In March they are loaning paintings to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and in September the society plans to exhibit work at the Prado in Madrid. The expansive and unusual array of Spanish art exhibited at the Hispanic Society of America, includes Velazquez's "Portrait of a little girl," above left, and his portrait "Camillo Astalli."
