(NYT53) ALBANY, N.Y. -- Jan. 8, 2003 -- NY-PATAKI -- Saying the state must continue to foster economic growth and look past the current fiscal crisis, Gov. George E. Pataki said Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, that he opposed raising taxes or postponing planned tax cuts. He also suggested that deep reductions in core state services would be needed to close an enormous state budget gap.
