(NYT36) WASHINGTON -- Feb. 3, 2003 -- SHUTTLE-CONGRESS -- After a private meeting with the administrator of NASA, several influential lawmakers said on Monday night they would move quickly to secure money for long-delayed safety improvements to the space shuttle, even as Congress prepared to examine whether spending constraints had put astronauts at risk.
