(NYT23) TEL AVIV, Israel -- Jan. 28, 2003 -- ISRAEL-ELECTION-2 -- Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his Likud party won decisively in Israel's parliamentary election Tuedsay as Israelis endorsed his tough approach to a bloody conflict with Palestinians that has ground on for more than two years. According to a television station exit poll and other surveys of voters on Election Day, the Likud party seemed poised to win well over 30 of the 120 seats in the Israeli parliament, a substantial increase over its current total of 19. A Sharon supporter kisses his picture as partial results of victory are announced in Tel Aviv Tuesday. (Rina Castelnuovo/The New York Times)
