(NYT19) MANDVI, India, Feb. 5 -- INDIA-EARTHQUAKE -- Nobody knows how many tens of thousands died in the earthquake that devastated India's Kutch peninsula 11 days ago, but this much is certain: Many were children, and many boys and girls who survived were left as orphans. Kundanben Soni, 47, maternal grandmother of baby girl, in her arms, rescued from the rubble of a house in Bhuj, India where both of the infants parents, Nilesh Kumar Soni, 28, and his bride, Binduben Soni, who was 25, died after the earthquake which struck 11 days ago. Soni holds holding her granddaughter in the courtyard of her home in Mandvi, 50 miles from Bhuj. (John F. Burns/The New York Times) *LITE
