(NYT53) BATHSHEBA, Barbados -- March 24, 2009 -- BARBADOS-SURFING-ADV29-7 -- Zed Layson, owner of Zed's Surfing Adventures teaching a class in Bathsheba, Barbados in March 2009. "Anyone can surf Barbados, and I mean anyone," said Layson. Layson is exactly what you'd want your surfing instructor to look like: shaggy blond hair, sunburned nose and cheeks, bright blue eyes and a lopsided, easygoing grin. "Our smaller waves are the most consistent," he said. "You can close your eyes and point to the calendar -- any day you hit, Barbados will have great beginner and intermediate waves."(Todd Heisler/The New York Times)
