FACE OFF... Two spiral-horned antelope come face to face as they spar. The pair of Nyala were seen in the face-off in Zimanga Private Game Reserve in South Africa which saw the one on the right become the victor. Chemical engineer John Mullineux, 40, from Secunda, South Africa, said "They are shy antelope, even though they are so large. There are only a few areas of South Africa where you can see nyala in the wild." "Nyala bulls do not like bulls from other family units. Usually these antelope will size each other up on literal size with the larger bull getting right of way. This was a rare moment in that they got very close. To scare away other bulls, they will posture by raising the long hairs along their backs and manes and arching their backs to look taller and larger. Oddly they did not do so this time, but did lock horns. In a minute the whole situation was resolved and the less bull stood while the victor walked on to the good browsing area."
