A flock of birds took flight shortly after the Space Shuttle Atlantis arrived at Pad 39B after being rolled out from the Vehicle Assembly Building for its third voyage in 1988. Atlantis launched in late November 1988 on mission STS-27, a Department of Defense dedicated mission. Atlantis is scheduled to begin its new mission (STS-122) on Dec. 8, 2007.
