Transmission electron micrograph of intrinsic muscle from the swim bladder of the toadfish. This view shows a one-sarcomere length of sarcoplasmic reticulum in three intermyofibrillar clefts. The high development of the reticulum is related to the rapid contraction and relaxation of this muscle.
