Rwanda, Karongi District, 22 January 2014 Alphonse Mushimiyimana, 43, harvests his maize with Richard Musengimana, 16, Edward Harerimana, 32, and Fred Mutangana, 19. Alphonse hired others to help till his land post harvest. They were Dominic Mungambira, 70, Veridian Mukaruga, 65, Dorothy Mukarusanga, 39, and Josephine Nyirasango, 37. Before joining One Acre Fund Alphonse had 20 ares (100 ???ares = one hectare). From his increased harvest he was able to purchase another 10 ares. He has been able to increase his production of maize with the ferilizer, training, and the extra land he now owns 10 fold.
