EXCLUSIVE - NO SPECIAL RATES - White stripes on black fur - why does Claudia Weide from Weyhe in Germany colour her stallion Calimero this way? Claudia Weide runs an equestrian farm in Northern Germany. Painting white stripes onto her stallion's body is a protection measure. The white paint protects from insects, like gadflies and midges (mosquitos). In the past she used blankets to cover her horses and protect them from painful stitches. Unfortunately, the blankets had been too warm during summer. She also tried marking sticks and different colours. Applying them took a lot of time and efforts though and they did not help against insects. About four years ago Claudia Weide heard about 'Zebra spray'. This combination of spray paint and insect repellent turned out to be very effective. Spraying the paint onto the horses takes hardly fifteen minutes. It is water resistent for about 24 hours and can last until three days during sunny weather. Calimero enjoys the painting procedure while he turns into an eyecatcher in the meadow. // Hengst Calimero, bemalt mit Zebraspray. Reitanlage Hof-Schierenbeck. Weyhe.
