Two black grouse fight each other for the 'priceless prize' of getting to mate with the watching females. The birds, who have distinctive red markings above their eyes, dance around each other, fluffing up their feathers and fanning out their tails to attract a mate.
They even kick at each other with their claws during the mating ritual that happens every spring known as a 'lek'. The dramatic photos were taken in Norway by office worker Stig Lovas from Oslo. SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS.
