Rohningya student Momadou Rafik was a fisherman but had to stop after persecution by local Buddhist, so he moved to the Baw Du Pha camp near Sittwe, Myanmar. The Rohningya were stripped of their their citizenship in 1982 and have suffered a long persecution at the hands of the government and Buddhist nationalists. In recent years they have been forced from their villages and put into camps. Many have fled to other countries including neighboring Bangladesh, where there are an estimated 400,000 Rohningya refugees.
