Nasze ciała to pole bitwy - NYT
Portrait of Ian Peake, a medical student in Oklahoma and a representative of the advocacy group Medical Students for Choice, outside the now shuttered Tulsa Women's Clinic, on November 12, 2022.  Neither of Oklahoma’s medical schools offer education in abortion care so for years Ian would shadow doctors in a variety of abortion clinics, including the Tulsa Women's Clinic, to supplement his training. He wants to go to medical school in Oklahoma, but he also wants to be an abortion provider -- and so because of Oklahoma's anti-abortion laws, he has only applied out of state, and Oklahoma is losing a bright young future doctor. The billboard behind the former clinic displays an advertisement for a crisis pregnancy center (also called CPCs or "fake clinics"), most of which are religiously affiliated, and typically offer services like pregnancy tests and sometimes resources like diapers or baby clothes, alongside counseling with an anti-abortion message. In May of this year, Oklahoma became the first state in the country to successfully outlaw nearly all abortions from the moment of conception on, even before the landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade was overturned a month later. They have now been joined by at least 13 states as laws restricting the procedure take effect following the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision and about a dozen more are likely to follow. This is a seismic shift for the United States, and in Oklahoma its impacts are rippling across an entire ecosystem of health workers, advocates, medical students, and uncountable women whose futures have been suddenly thrust into the unknown.
