Germany, Berlin, 10 March 2016 Syrian refugees, 34 year old former owner of a clothing store Jassir (last name withheld, blue sweatshirt) with his brother, 29 year Aiman (last name withheld, in black) who used to work with him, left their home town of Aleppo on 31 December 2015. Aiman & Jassir had three brothers killed in fighting. Aiman sustained a head injury when a bomb landed on his family???s home. Brain damage has left him unable to read and write and his ability to speak has been greatly impaired. His brother Jassir helps take care of him. Jassir and Aiman stay at DRK-Notunterkunft at 104 Ruschestrasse or German Red Cross Emergency Shelter, housed in the former headquarters of the GDR Ministry for State Security, more commonly known as The Stasi. The building lay empty for ten years before, in November 2015 it was taken over by the German Red Cross and the 13 story building is now a temporary shelter for 1300 refugees, including 700 children. The building is being refurbished to be able to take 2,500 people. The facility and services it provides costs the German tax payer ??Z1.5 million per month. Robin Hammond / NOOR
