Dr. Louis Leakey with the skull of a man 1,700,000 years old, which he presented to President Nyerere (the first President of Tanzania). Dr. Leaky, an anthropologist, did extensive work in Africa. He believed that early man developed in Africa and spent most of his life studying tools, bones and other artifacts.
