Cambodia, Kampong Cham, 2009 Ponh, 14 years old: a tapper's life is not easy. Along with his brother Phea, 12 years old, and his father Say Sophea, he starts working at 5 am and finishes at 4 pm. He has one day off per week. Together the three of them earn a salary of 35 dollars, feeding eight people and paying back debts. Up before dawn, the tappers incise the trees to extract the latex, performing the incision diagonally on the tree trunk. They then collect the whitish liquid dripping out of the incisions into a bowl attached to the base of the cut. The latex is collected twice a day, and is transported to the crude rubber processing factory. Each employee is responsible for tending to about a hundred trunks daily; they are accompanied by family members, women or children. La collecte se fait deux fois par jour et est transportee r l'usine de transformation de caoutchouc brut.
