The British festival season ended in familiar style last night as festival-goers at Bestival on the Isle of Wight had to endure a true mudfest, the result of torrential rains that had battered the country on Friday. Thousands braved torrential rain and ensuing mudbaths to enjoy the last festival of the summer: the Isle of Wight's Bestival. There they were treated to peformances from Amy Winehouse (booed by punters for arriving late and wrapping up early), Underworld, My Bloody Valentine, Hot Chip, the Specials, Gary Numan and Grace Jones. The festival had suffered from the appalling weather conditions, particularly the BBC Introducing stage, and many acts, including Sam Sparro, Lykke Li and the Black Kids, were forced to cancel.
