President Barack Obama discusses the situation in Sudan with actor George Clooney, White House, Washington, America - 12 Oct 2010 Hollywood actor George Clooney met with President Barack Obama at the White House to discuss U.S. involvement in Sudan on Tuesday (12 Oct). The meeting, which took place outside the Oval office, comes priori to a critical election in Africa's largest nation early next year. Activist Clooney recently visited the country and is calling for the world to use international pressure to prevent violence ahead of the 9 Jan election. There are fears that the election independence referendum on south Sudan could split the country in two and lead to a new outbreak of north-south civil war. After his meeting with the president Clooney said."At a time that is one of the most politicised times ever, this is something that everyone agrees on: If there's some way to get ahead of this and stop it before it happens, we better."
